ABOUT US

Who we are....
Jurassic Coast Food Safety is owned and operated by Susan White MRSPH. We offer RSPH (Royal Society of Public Health) certified training courses in food safety, HACCP and allergen control.

We are the home of the Safely Proven food safety management system that has been created by us. By drawing on practical experience and knowledge gained over many years in the food sector.

Safely Proven is a low cost, high impact food safety management system which is specially designed for the food and drink industry and will suit all businesses from farm to fork and includes remote audit and support.

After more than 25 years experience as a qualified lecturer in hospitality and business, Sue understands that people learn so much better in a relaxed, friendly and safe environment and in smaller groups.

Our training facility is not your average training centre, it has a relaxed homely feel because it is part of our home. Being based right on the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Jurassic Coast in West Dorset and just a few minutes walk will find you on the beach, where if you want, you can sit and enjoy your lunch if it is a warm sunny day during our courses..

Because our courses never have more than 6 people you will soon feel at home, which means our trainers can dedicate more time to each participant, you will find you are able to share and discuss more, giving you a valued learning experience.

If you wish to attend the 3 day food safety and HACCP course but are not within travelling distance Sue can recommend accommodation close by to suit all budgets.

Jurassic Coast Food Safety offer one day RSPH level 2 courses in food safety, HACCP and allergen control, along with a 3 day RSPH level 3 food safety and HACCP level 2 course at competitive rates. We can also offer refresher training to meet your specific business requirements. Training can be provided at our facility or in the workplace if a suitable learning environment. About Susan White

After being classically trained as a chef, Sue moved into hospitality management with Bass Hotels, during which time she gained excellent managerial skills by working alongside the hotel manager of a sixty bedroom hotel, then took sole charge of the hotel from noon to dusk for over eighteen months.

Sue then moved into work based learning, at the same time as being head chef /manager of a large pub restaurant which was part of one of the main brewery chains in the UK at that time. During this time she trained over twelve young people to be qualified chefs and became a qualified hospitality lecturer. Sue then worked on a freelance basis for the Hotel and Catering Training Board, and become a tutor for them working around the South West of England training young people in all areas of hospitality. Also training new members of the company to be NVQ assessors and internal verifiers. During this time Sue still worked part-time in the hospitality industry as relief hotel manager and head chef.

Following this, Sue was employed as a Small Business tutor for Weymouth College. She had always been involved with small businesses, having been self employed, and also working in the family business from an early age. This was a really privileged position, and saw her working alongside some very talented people all around Dorset, helping them to set-up all types of business, many in the food industry, who are now selling products nationally.

Sue has over 15 years’ experience in the food sector, working on technical quality projects along with being an international ISO22000 food safety management lead auditor. She can work with food businesses to create, implement or review their food safety management system (FSMS) including HACCP review, provide Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) accredited training in food safety level 2 and level 3 and HACCP principals both in the UK and internationally. Sue can also review or set-up robust and easy to follow quality management systems (QMS) with you as she is ISO22000 and ISO9001 certified.

Sue has been on contract to the government of St Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean where she has been working closely with Environmental Health. Sue has trained people on food safety and HACCP principals and raised the food safety standards by implementing a food safety management programme. This has been adopted by 35 food related businesses with a view to awarding hygiene ratings for all food businesses. St Helena is a small island of just over 4000 people and is UK Overseas Territory located in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, most people know the island as the place where Napoleon was exiled. During her time here 130 RSPH exams have been passed (100% pass rate) with 30% scoring distinctions at level 3 and 25% scoring 29 or over out of 30 at level 2. Sue has now published a book about the businesses on St Helena that she has supported.

Some references......

"Sue White held the position of Technical Quality Manager at Bridport Gourmet Pies for 5 years and was a valued member of my management team. She admirably undertook all technical and quality duties both in the office and on the factory floor.
The best thing that she did for my business was to streamline the QMS / FSMS and business management by working with the developers of my business management software programme to create a package that suited all my specific business needs. This was so successful that Sue saved me time and money, by reducing the 5 day admin role to 2.5 days, giving me the extra time needed to dedicate to running my business effectively instead of being tied to office duties.
Sue is dedicated and hardworking, always giving her full attention to the task at hand and prides herself on doing a good job and maintaining high standards at all times" Martin Aldridge - Bridport Gourmet Pies

"Sue White's contribution to the airport readiness process has been significant. On a personal level, Sue has been a pleasure to work with, quiet and unassuming, yet steely and determined. Sue ensures that she shares her extensive experience in an accessible and memorable way. She has never come across as the teacher or expert but the companion and supporter of those on the journey to excellence. During the time Sue spent on St Helena she supported people of various levels of experience and education and all had positive experiences. Even those who had been out of education for a long time were guided towards successful conclusion of the relevant programmes with Sue instilling confidence, pride, self-belief and joy to many she met along the way". Dr Niall O'Keefe - Chief Executive of Economic Development (Enterprise St Helena)
